Ambidextrous Safety Cut

I receive numerous questions about ambidextrous safeties and 1911 grip compatibility.

Grips with ambi-safety have a relief cut on the underside of the right hand grip panel to enable the ambidextrous safety lever to actuate.  Grips without ambi-safety have no relief cut.  All "ambi-safety" grips WILL fit to a non-ambi 1911.  Non-ambi safety grips WILL NOT fit to an ambi-safety 1911.

Any non-ambi grips can have an ambi safety cut into them......just check the box under the "Purchase" button next to the grips and an ambi-safety cut will be done at no charge.

Both photos show a non ambi-safety 1911.  The photo to the left shows a non ambi-safety grip.  The photo to the right shows an ambi-safety grip.  The ambi grip fits perfectly but the relief cut is slightly visible from the rear at the top of the grip.  The decision to install ambi grips on a non-ambi 1911 is not an issue of function but purely asthetic.
